Disable High DPI Display Scaling only works the first time

Disable High DPI Display Scaling compatibility setting of an application seems to work only the first time you RDP to a Windows 2016 server. After signing out and connecting again, the setting is not working right. The application is scaled, and it is scaled the wrong way too (it looks like the font is scaled but not the controls). Any ideas?
