<sigh> Robert, we are referring to both the data cable and the floppy power cable
(referred to here inaccurately as "molex") in this thread.

On my system, the molex connector will connect rightside up or upside down.
I've tried it both ways with the same result. I'm looking at a possible
controller problem now. I'm sorry to say that I have more than one thread
going on this issue. I'll report back here as well.

The power supply cable carries two voltages,12 volts for the drive motor
and 5 volts for the electronics. If it is connected in reverse, the 12 volt
line is applied to the electronics, which may cause permanent damage.
I suggest you try a known good floppy drive, making sure to connect
the cable correctly.

If the floppy drive was connected wrong the first time, it may
have been damaged and might not work now even if connected
properly. If you decide to try another drive, I suggest you do
everything possible to make sure it is plugged in correctly
before turning the computer on.
