AD CS 08 - Installation UI question:

K

Kristin Griffin

Hi,

Whe I go to install a stand-alone CA, before you get to the screen where you
pick standalone or enterprise CA, the screen before it give you choices to
install CA, Web Enrollment, Online Responder, or NDES.

Iknow that web enrollment works with a standalone CA, and NDES cannot be
installed (it wont let you), but what about Online Responder? Is it ok to
put an Online Responder on a standalone CA? How would the two work
together?

Thanks,

Kristin

Each is a separate component. An Online Responder simply allows revocation
status information for any configured CAs. Not only can the CA be an
enterprise CA or a standalone CA. The CA can be a 3rd party CA such as
Entrust or RSA Keon.
