Recently a local store has afew e machine 36?? no monitor and running XP
(XP OK for me). It appears that none wants the machines just because
the OS is XP. What I wonder about is how reliable are these e
machines...looking at the box it was made in China but I did not find
a company name or e mail address. Does this mean once you buy it that's
it. ???.
Thanks

First off...XP is a good OS...
so that part is fine.

As to emachines:

I do a lot of computer repair work...
and by far...the most machines that come in with dead motherboards are from
emachines.
That said: A few years back I got one free and used it for several years and
never had the slighest problem with it...
so if you can get one of them for under $50 it's probably worth it.

As to being made in China.
I think everything nowdays is made there <G>
