Look who is talking about appropriate language!! You use dirty language
each and every day. Oh yea, you are a pin-headed Ubuntu user so your
reasoning is all screwed up.

Go figure

ad·ver·tis·ing /ˈædvərˌtaɪzɪŋ/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled
Pronunciation[ad-ver-tahy-zing] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. the act or practice of calling public attention to one's product,
service, need, etc., esp. by paid announcements in newspapers and
magazines, over radio or television, on billboards, etc.: to get more
customers by advertising.
2. paid announcements advertisements.
3. the profession of planning, designing, and writing advertisements.

Alias is not selling Ubuntu nor is it his product, so he's not advertising
it.

Besides the whole point is mute as that "community" is some kind of
Microsoft forum. We don't access Microsoft's forums, we use Usenet and
fortunately Microsoft doesn't control Usenet, nor set its rules. If
Microsoft wants to detach their forums from Usenet they can go ahead and do
that. We'll still have Usenet and the freedom of speech to say whatever we
choose to say about Vista and its inadequacies.

Cheers.

There are no rules of conduct you dimwit. Microsoft may have some kind of
rules of conduct with their web-based forums, that one has to agree to
before being allowed to post. I don't know, as I don't use their forums.

I access this newsgroup through Usenet. I "subscribe" to this newsgroup and
when doing so, do NOT have to agree to any "rules of conduct".

This particular newsgroup is called: microsoft.public.windows.vista.general

in Usenet the ".general" indicates a pretty wide open type of newsgroup not
just one focused on technical support. This means that it is valid to talk
about Vista BOTH pro and con as well as suggesting other alternatives or
posting articles of a very general nature as regards the subject
of "Vista".

The news server that I access carries some 68,483 newsgroups, of which 1,028
fall within the category of being ".general" newsgroups.

Understand yet?

> Being an Ubuntu user you would think that. Your reasoning is a bit off.

Actually, your reasoning is what's off here. But that isn't surprising
considering what a doofus you are.

Cheers.

You're really trying to justify yours and alias abhorrent disgusting MS

Um, going against or not going against the rules was Frank's argument,
not mine. I never agreed to those rules as I don't use MS' web interface

So I guess that rationalizes and justifies your abhorrent behavior right?
You are really sick in the head!

indeed... this is the worst kind of shoddy workmanship I have seen in
a long time.. I hope one day this co. gets slapped w/a huge class-
action lawsuit, they really deserve it, for the misery they have put
so many people through now.. (not to speak of how so many people's
productivity is being affected by this useless piece of crap that goes
for an OS.. personally I have spent so much time now dealing with the
Vista problems (emails, phone calls, search online, get help on forums
like this one..) I am seriously considering moving on to greener
pastures (green as in apple...)

my main Vista problem: are you ready for this????

I can't activate the digital cable-tv feature in Media Center b/c
Vista is not accepting the product key supplied (it's in a sticker on
the machine..)
folks where I bought my machine said it's b/c Vista has gotten
corrupted and I need to re-install it.. (an entire OS that gets
corrupted, whoever heard of such a thing... M$ really had dumbed-down
standards big-time here...)

this OS is on the whole a total, unmitigated disaster.. M$ was slapped
with a huge fine today by the EU (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080227/
ap_on_hi_te/eu_microsoft_ylt=AgeJ25qLtNFLxS3hhEsOvzcjtBAF) that made
my day, they deserve this and so much more, they deserve to go out of
business, in my view... they have practically a monopoly in OS
systems (certainly on the business level..) and now we see the
consequences of this...

I read a few weeks ago that M$ is developing a program for employers
to spy on their employees, to the point that they'll be able to
monitor even things like their heart-rate (I'm not kidding..
http://technollama.blogspot.com/2008/01/patent-for-office-surveillance-software.html,
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article3193480.ece)
I think M$ should concentrate on developing a decent OS, and testing
it properly before they ship it to market, before they embark on
developing an incredibly invasive spying software for employers..)

HA!!! that's what you think... it turns out M$ THEMSELVES have just
released a list of stuff that will NOT work with SP1...

this is beyond a bad joke at this point....

HA!!! that's what you think... it turns out M$ THEMSELVES have just

Microsoft: 'These programs won't work after Vista SP1…' - Software - Breaking Business and Technology News at silicon.com

this is beyond a bad joke at this point....

Did you even read the list before spewing off the hate? MS-LINK: Information about programs that are known to experience a loss of functionality when they run on a Windows Vista Service Pack 1-based computer (Read it carefully)

ALL can be fixed (except one) with a patch from the vendor.... So why the hostility? Oh, I know why cause the media blurts out FUD-like headlines and everyone buys them hook, line, and sinker.

Bottom line: For such a huge update there were barely any side effects for all the mega thousands+ of programs out there.

Not bad if you ask me.
