First Vista crisis, and it's big one

S

Sylvia

In U.S.
Sony with Vista Business, Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, six months
with no problems.

Today I see surprise warning that Vista must be
validated. What? Cannot use internet but must do
telephone. Many numbers. I enter all correct, but not
valid. Human came on line and we have speaking problem.
I ask to speak slow and she hang up.

Now what. How to find human without whole process again.

Thank you.

Please follow this troubleshooting procedure:

1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy".
3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the "WGA Validation Problems" forum and
paste the results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post.
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25
4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and recommend an appropriate solution.

Now why would they hang up if you asked them to speak slow? Something else
must have happened. Did you have an attitude? Kinda sounds like it.

Call back without that bitchy attitude and maybe they will help you.

Just FYI

Why would they hang up on you? They are there to help and they only hang up
if the customer is rude or bitchy.

So which is it?

There's no valid reason to have to call someone in India to use
something one has paid for. The fact that you accept Redmond accusing
you of being a pirate until you prove otherwise and that one should be
"polite" when one is forced to jump through the WGA hoops only proves
how brainwashed you are in accepting this control.

If Microsoft thinks someone is stealing from them, they should call the
proper authorities like anyone else. There is no valid reason why paying
customers should be forced to assist MS in catching pirates. If MS wants
to know if I bought my copies of Windows, they can bloody well get a
court order and come over here and demand to see my receipts.

Tired of this crap? Check out Ubuntu, a free operating system that has
no WPA, no WGA, no DRM restrictions and, compared to Windows, it's
bulletproof regarding viruses and malware. Not only that, it comes with
access to over 23,000 free programs. Get it at www.ubuntu.com

Checkout Ubuntu.. free, limited hardware support for new stuff, No DRM so no
programs like iTunes, BBC iPlayer, few games, new interface(s) to learn, new
apps to learn.
Make life easier and try all the free programs on windows first as virtually
all of them run on windows too.
Great if it does what you want but don't expect it to be right for everyone
and watch the installer as it can wipe windows without a sensible, easy to
understand warning. BTW it probably won't save you any cash as you have
already paid for windows.

Dennis is just pissed because he was too stupid to understand the
installing procedure in Ubuntu. Since then, he's been spewing his sour
grapes all over this and the Ubuntu newsgroup. Don't pay him any mind.

Try the MGA tool posted above or just call back. I have called numerous times in the past and never had a problem. They have ALWAYS fixed me right up.

The truth that you have sour grapes and are too stupid to follow simple
instructions when installing Ubuntu? It's not a matter of like or
dislike, being as the "truth" is about you. You have to decide if you
can live with that truth or not.

"Numerous times"? How many times have you had to do this? More importantly,
how many times should a paying customer be harassed like this before s/he
wakes up and smells the coffee? Mr. "Technologist" indeed.

Dennis, it's not only the cash you outlay for Windoze that is expensive,
it's all the cash you have to layout for functional software (Windoze comes
with little of that) plus the heavy cost of getting Windoze on all the
computers you have in your home or small office. Now, we are starting to
talk a lot of money! Add to that the obsolescence factor with perfectly
good hardware that won't run Vista and the costs go even higher. The short
of it - using Microsoft's "solutions" compared to Open Source is VERY
expensive without any real gains for the majority of PC users. In fact,
there are a whole lot of negatives, but that is another topic.

Cheers.

Perhaps? Or it could be that no "specialists" even exist but it's a way to
placate users who are pissed off with the whole WGA thing to start with? I
suspect the latter.

You might want to re-read it and quote from it where it says that. Possibly
in this section ... 4.3. Usenet Signature Convention ? Nope.

Please do not assume every call was for my personal computers. Thank you. Is this how you talk to people face to face? It is interesting how separating people by computers make them act downright mean actually.

Would you please stop your spamming in this Vista ng? Spamming is not
allowed. The OP is asking about Vista and has not expressed any interest
at all about any other os.
Take it somewhere else, but not here.
