Upgrade to Vista Premium from Vista Business

Is it possible to upgrade my Vista Business software to Home Premium edition?

Or is this impossible because it is considerened as downgrading?

Not possible. If you want Business, you gotta pay again. OR, you could
upgrade to a newer operating system that just came out last July. It's
called Ubuntu and be can be gotten at www.ubuntu.com for FREE. It's far
more user friendly than Vista and comes with access to over 23,000 FREE
programs.

I suggest you upgrade to Vista Ultimate, if you want the media functionality
in Home Premium. This will also give you Parental Controls, BitLocker drive
encryption and various MUI packs.

At the bottom it shows an upgrade chart for vista to vista upgrades. Looks like you will have to do a clean install.

Home Premium and Business have different features. You're trying to
get the features of both, and the version that does that is Ultimate,
so that's what you need to upgrade to.

Also, certain features of Vista Enterprise edition are included in Vista
Ultimate as well.

No, it's a downgrade and not possible. A clean installation of Home Premium
is required.

Hi Kor,

You cannot carry out an upgrade from the Business version to one of the Home
editions or vice-versa. To do that would necessitate a clean install. If you
wish to clean install Vista using upgrade media, please refer to my post
'Clean Install Windows Vista Using Upgrade Media' in the newsgroup 'Windows
Vista Installation and Setup', (dated 9/21/2007), link given below.
The only possible upgrade for either of these versions is to Vista Ultimate.
If your edition of Vista includes the 'Anytime Upgrade' option, you could use
that method to upgrade to Vista Ultimate (since ALL versions of Vista are on
the same disk), but you will need to contact Microsoft about that or ask for
further advice on that matter in the newsgroups (either this group or
'Windows Vista Installation and Setup' would be the most appropriate) since I
myself do not have any experience of using this feature.
Of course, if you are moving from 32-bit to 64-bit (or vice-versa), this
will require a clean install. The instructions in my post referred to earlier
in this reply apply to both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista.

Home Premium and Business are on the same tier so there is no upgrade or
downgrade path that will take you from one to the other. However, you *can*
upgrade to ultimate which contains all of the features of Business and Home
Premium.
