The latter.
Typically I am green>40% here on msoe, but not as high as I would be if I
did get rid of the startup stuff. I checked every item and the arguments are
for increased performance early on hotfixes. No spyware, adware just patches
from Netropa and HP Backweb when I still ran it. One problem they had with
this hp system in universities was a constant ping to the Backweb/Infospace
server or even MS critical updates is another. Here is a list of these:
hpsysdrv HPScanPatch usbmmkbd.exe bpcpost.exe Hidserv.exe KeyBoard
Manager [Netropa]. The rest of the stuff is Avast or ZA or MS critical KB ~.
The classic minimum necessary startup stuff is: scanregw.exe systray.exe
LoadPowerProfile both run/service taskmon.exe mstask.exe. I also have
MSDTC and inetinfo.exe on.
