Why would we want to turn it off Tom? I thought AVG including the new items
in it's package would mean I did not have to bother with anything else??

If you are the type that wants something else to do
the anti-spyware thing - there is the option to turn it
off. It is an option, not necessarily a recommendation.

I turn it off because it has been a serious resource hog, and has given many
false positives.
