Slow typing and keystroke problems

You probably could reduce the priority of any program that runs constantly
and have the same result. I personally got a faster CPU and the problem was
gone. As an alternate, you may find that if you have a dual core CPU that
it would help if you manually changed the affinity of some processes to the
other core. Look at your task manager and see if you are hitting 100%
frequently, especially on one core.

Are you using a wireless bluetooth keyboard/mouse by any chance? I
have seen a typing lag/missed letters issue with those (on both my
machine before I returned the keyboard, and on other machines).
