Windows Media Player will not play DVD

I insert a DVD in computer, open Windows Media Player, but the Player will not respond or play the DVD. When I select the DVD from the Player Library in the navigation pane, it will only respond --- Unknown Disc.

 

I want to insert the disc in the DVD drive, and immediately the Windows Media Player begins to play it.
