Windows 7 and 8 installation

Sir/madam

I have 2 specific queries.

I have 2 laptops, one had Windows 8 preinstalled (I know the key) and other has Windows 7 ultimate (purchased dvd).

I have purchased new laptop with DOS.

Which of the above windows versions can I install? How to install?

Note: I don't want to use my previous PC's. They are non working ones. Hence both versions Windows keys will be unused.
