Hi. Windows 10 did an automatic update. Something happened during the update and it was unable to complete successfully, which shut my computer down. I tried to do a backup and recovery with the option of keeping everything on my computer, but it was unsuccessful, as well. I took it to Geek Squad and they ran diagnostics and found my hard drive was still good so it wouldn't be a problem to reinstall Windows 10 and recover everything from my hard drive. That set me back $200. Thank you Microsoft. But what is more aggravating than that is... when he went in to recover my files from my hard drive, there is nothing there. thousands of pictures and videos are gone. Everything from my computer is gone. It looks like during the Windows 10 update rewritten itself and over everything on my computer and there is nothing they can do but reinstall and hope they can recover from there. It make me sick to know I may have lost everything because Windows has a default in their updates. They said this has not been the first time someone has had to come in and get Windows 10 reinstalled because something happened during the reinstall process. Something needs to be done. Those pictures and videos were precious to me and is something I cannot get back. I need an explanation as to how this could happen? And Microsoft needs to be responsible for their faulty updates.
