Is there a way to know what component was removed from a computer

I inadvertently left my computer with one of my computer repairers to attend to some exigencies. My computer is always on hibernate due to the nature of my work, but on my return, it had been turned off. This means someone tried turning it on but couldn't get past the login prompt.

I took the computer home and checked its properties: I've still got 2.4 dual cores, 500gb hd and 3.89 ram. One of the reasons I'm skeptical is because, after my system booted, I saw this message about certification encryption wizard. I've never seen that since I got my computer 4 years ago. I googled its trigger but nothing triggers it.

Secondly, my computer now hangs!!! I've run heavy software on this computer over the last few years and it's never hung for once.

I've tried using the troubleshooter to detect what hardware is missing but it found nothing.

How do I know what hardware components were excluded?

I use a windows 8 pro. Many thanks.
