Junk folder in Outlook won't open

I'm using Windows 8 and the Outlook app. I want to open the Junk folder to see what's gone automatically into it, but when I click on the Junk folder, all i get is a rotating circle; the folder won't open. How can I fix this and see what's in the Junk/spam folder?
