Universal Keyboard battery will not hold a charge

Just yesterday purchased a Universal keyboard, and like 1000's before me, the battery does not hold a charge. An exchange is an obvious answer, but I am in Kuwait, and it was a miracle I was able to find this one. So an exchange is not an option. Is there a way to get a replacement by Microsoft here in Kuwait?

 

 

*please note, a refund is an option, BUT I really need this particular model keyboard.
