PC offline forgot administrator password

Hi!

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 8. My computer shut off with a message "your pc ran into a problem ....". When l got in later l could not sign in as an administrator, since l forgot my password and l could not access a wireless connection. On my MS account the laptop was not registered, although l'm sure l did. Now l'm stuck. I cannot reset to default, since l've got a lot of files l cannot loose. Tried all the previous solutions to the same problem other members of the community had. Please help.
