Can I retrieve the Product ID if my laptop has been reset to Factory settings and the copy of my genuine Windows 8 installation disc has been lost?

I recently upgraded my Windows from 8 to 10 but now I am not able to activate the windows with the product key provided for my copy of windows 8. Besides, I do not have any idea if the previous and the current product id's of windows are same or different.

However, I tried to reinstall Windows 8 operating system provided along with genuine product key but the first disc of the installation discs went corrupted and now I am stuck with an operating system asking for activation.

Can anyone please help?
