My emails keep duplicating when I receive. Server is ok. Can settings be changed to fix?

I have windows live mail. My emails that I received are duplicating or more. Unable to stop. Checked with server because I keep getting error message that the server has terminated the emails. They thought it might be settings on Windows Live Mail.

Need help. thanks
