Guest MikeMcClendon Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I have an old computer that runs Windows 8. (It will not upgrade past that.) I have been using this system for a decade or longer Originally it ran Windows 7 and I upgraded to Windows 8 in 2011/2012. Two days ago it started giving me a message that windows would not activate. First I don't have the original install disks since it has been 8 years. Even If I did when I go to the panel that pops up and click on the Activate button, nothing happens. I have been through all the online stuff I can find on this and nothing seems to help. I tried to go through Microsoft support, which is maybe the worst experience I have ever had with technical support, and could never make it past the automatic assistant, which kept rerouting me to windows 10 activation. Then when I can't display the activation screen and provide the codes, it hangs up on me. I do use this computer for a lot of things, and I am afraid that Windows will suddenly stop working. Since the hardware itself will not support any upgrades, if it stops, I am in serious trouble. I do not understand why, after 8 years this suddenly happened, and I don't understand how i can fix it. This is a valid copy of windows that was acquired and activated almost a decade ago. Any Help would be appreciated... Continue reading... Quote
