Windows 8 OS Retail Version - Original System Died - Can be Used on Other system?

Good day.

 

Several years ago, I purchased the retail version of WINDOWS 8 PRO for a desktop system to replace the OEM WIN7.

 

That system is dead.

 

I have a WIN7 laptop and would like to use that previously used license mentioned above on it.

 

Is that permitted? Would there be any activation issues?
