Reactivate a product key

I have an old laptop (Win7 Pro) on which the installation of Win10 fails all the time (since forever). I was thinking of installing Win8 on it in order to perhaps force the upgrade.

 

 

Unfortunately the product key for Win8 has been used before on a PC computer that has since been recycled.

 

 

Is there a way to reactivate the Win8 product key so I can at least upgrade the laptop ?
