Child domain name for issue

Hi,

 

If the forest root domain name is xyz.com, we have been reading the format of child domain name as test.xyz.com.

 

While setup of the Child Domain, I used name as

 

 

It was not accepted and with Show more, I see.

 

 

Then I selected child domain name as

 

 

Now it is accepted and configured.

 

But still I am confused for the child domain name format that we read in various resources.
