trouble resetting windows computer

hello im trying to reset my windows computer. Its running on Windows 8 and everytime i try to restart my computer, it tells me im "some files are missing. Your windows installation or recovery media will provide these files." i tried downloading the iso files or create installation media and updating my computer to windows 8.1. The problem is when it asks me to input my product key it tells me my key doesn't work and to try another one. I downloaded an application (Produkey) that tells me what my key was since i don't know what my key is. i don't know what to do im just trying to reset my computer.
