Windows 10 Deleting Itself and making me rebuy it?

Back when Windows 10 came out I got it for free. My problem is that recently I've done a reset on the system to free up space and boost some speed on My originally windows 8 Laptop and the Windows 10 system has went back to Windows 8 and tells me I have to buy the software to reinstall it. I'm unsure what to do about this.
