Does remapping the keyboard using 3rd party software effects the keyboard usage in bios?

I wish to install a new window on one of my laptop via USB drive. The laptop itself had a defective key on the keyboard itself, the down arrow key, which disallow me to change the boot sequence in bios (basically I can't change any of the option without the down arrow key). Can remapping the keyboard help this issue? maybe I can reassign other key to act as the down key?
