I Can't Log In, Change Password or Factory Reset From Toubleshooting

So basically I have an old acer netbook running on Windows 8 and I'd like to give it to my niece for her school work which I haven't touched in about 2 years. It was previously my old college computer and is packed full of coursework and video games. It would be preferable to try and get the coursework off but I'm not too hung up about it if I can't, I'd just like to wipe it before she goes to school in a few week. I've already tried all the passwords I can think of. I've tried changing the password through Microsoft remotely, and I've tried going through troubleshooting when you click the restart button - this doesn't bring up any option to reset the pc. I read somewhere that enabling safe mode fixes that but it did nothing. Please help me! Thank you very much ❤️
