Can't update from windows 8 to 8.1

I've recently restored my initial backup from my notebook and it restored a clean installation of windows 8 but since microsoft has ended support for this version of windows I'm having trouble installing updates with windows update (error code 80072EFE) and i cant uodate to windows 8.1 since the microsoft store for windows 8 has closed. When I tried installing a windows 8.1 via iso i recived an error saying that my windows key (original from my notebook) isn't valid. What can I do to solve this problem and update to windows 8.1 (Updating to windows 10 won't help me because the system is bloated and my system runs much slower when compared to windows 8.1)
