Desktop glitch

Hiya.

 

 

Today, I've encountered quite a few problems with my HP windows 8 laptop.

 

 

First is when I couldn't sign into my laptop, even if I entered the correct password multiple times, forcing me to change it. And when I'm finally able to sign in, my desktop is completely bare; void of any apps I installed, or icons to even access the wifi, time or anything.

 

 

Just a purple screen with a completely empty task bar, save for the keyboard and battery symbol. No other options.

 

 

I've tried powering it off and restarting it multiple times, but every time, the same result.

 

 

 

 

I don't know what else to do.

 

 

Is there anything I could do before I have to reside to a hard restart?
