Locked out of laptop I bought

Hi. I’m sure you have heard this before but I’m new to this and need help if possible. I bought a laptop from a guy on Facebook market place. The laptop has windows 8, now when I bought it he gave me a password to sign in and it worked a few time however before I figured out how to change it that password has stopped working. Now after I push power and the computer starts up and the page comes on it has his name and email a square for a picture and a place for that password.
