About product key when downloading and upgrading to windows 8.1

I have windows 8 pro currently on my laptop with an activated product key,I want to upgrade it to Windows 8.1 so I was installing it but i have a doubt that when upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 pro ,does it require a new product key like we have to buy a new product key for 8.1 or the windows 8 pro product key will work. I have been searching to find out where it will work or not but can't understand if it will work so thought to ask the question here.
