Administrators AWS Posted October 30, 2012 Administrators Posted October 30, 2012 Issue: Explorer.exe crashes and restarts every 1-2 minutes. It doesn't matter if I'm in the start screen or in the desktop. Applications that depend on the explorer crash or hang as well. Background: Machine was upgraded from Windows 7 to the RTM build of Windows 8. This problem did not show up immediately, after a day it happened once and I rebooted which seemed to help. Now the problem shows up immediately after rebooting. Steps: 1. Ran "sfc /scannow". It completed successfully and fixed a few corruption issues. 2. Booted into Safe Mode and the problem still exists. 3. Ran windbg.exe, attached to explorer.exe process to capture crash information.
