windows 8 can't access shared folder

your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (computer name) is not responding

 

 

that is the error message I am getting in windows 8 machine, which is trying to access the shared folder from windows 7 machine.

 

Windows 7 machine can access the folders in the windows 8 machine but not the other way around. I tried to ping windows 7 machine from windows 8 but the ping didn't work, but it works from windows 7

 

the firewall is turned off in both computers
