Modern UI apps can't access internet throgh VPN connection

I usually connect to internet through out VPN connection at the college. Live tiles update when I connect but when I open an app such as Weather or News they say I'm offline.

I have no problem when I connect directly to internet such as through sharing my cell phone internet connection.

Solutions I tried but were not successful:

Uncheck &quotUse default gateway on remote network&quot option. (I lost total internet access by doing this.)

Start DNS Client service. (It was set to start automatically.)
