I have a personal windows 11 machine which is quite new (bought December), and it's been set up so I can access my work information (outlook, one drive etc) through a work account. I've contacted my IT department but they say they wouldn't be able to limit those access settings. When I set it up I was able to face recognition for sign in. I was wearing glasses that day and now it won't recognise me without them (I don't always wear them). I tried to reset it but all my system settings for access (such as fingerprint recognition and PIN and including facial recognition) are all greyed out View the full article

We currently use the Steps recorder functionality to track user steps/ activities to accompany the automated screenshots during User Acceptance training. With the announcement that the tool will be "phased out", I've explored the suggested alternatives and none of them perform the same function.I'd like to understand what "Phased out" actually means. Does it mean that the tool will no longer be supported, does it mean the tool will be removed following an update, does it mean the performance of the tool may reduce? If so, is there a definitive date that this will happen? Is there a plan for MicView the full article

https://whyp.it/users/53019/anunoriginaluseridThat beep plays on my PC every time I make/receive phone calls as well as when my phone receives text messages.I do not use my PC to make phone calls. I use Messages for Web, but the notification occurs even when the browser is closed. All my Windows sound notifications are turned off, but this one somehow gets through.Phone Link is uninstalled on both my PC and phone.I figured the next logical step would be to find the sound in my system and delete it. However, it doesn't appear to be in the C:\Windows\Media folder. Where else could it be?View the full article

My Windows update keeps failing due to lack of space. I discovered that the lack of space happened because Phone Link now copies all of my phone's data to the C Drive and holds it in a file called CrossDevice which is hidden under Users. The simple answer would have been to delete the files in CrossDevice but that also deletes them on my phone! The second obvious solution would be to disable or remove Phone Link or remove my phone as an attached device. However, there does not appear to be any way of doing either. So my question is how do I get rid of the CrossDevice folder to release sView the full article

Since computers installed update KB5050094 we are seeing RDP connections being disconnected randomly...sometimes after a few seconds or after a few minutes. We have confirmed that it was this update which caused it by removing the update and then testing, and RDP stayed active as it did previously without any disconnects. We then reinstalled the update and the RDP disconnects started again. We have also tested this from Macs using the Windows App, and the same users who were disconnected on their Windows systems, where not getting disconnected from the Mac (so not the server end disconnectingView the full article

Hello,I’m facing an ongoing issue with my PC’s Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon randomly disappears, and when I check Device Manager, the drivers are completely missing. Then, after some time, it sometimes reappears on its own. Here’s what I have tried so far:Reinstalled drivers (both automatically and manually).Ran Troubleshooter (no permanent fix).Contacted Microsoft Support twice:The first time, they fixed it for a few weeks. The second time, they installed older drivers, making the issue worse.Reinstalled the latest official drivers from Asus (the ones I found are not outdated).None of these haView the full article

I have configured a Group Policy to force removable drive encryption via BitLocker. This works perfectly until someone uses and Iron Key encrypted drive. Then Bitlocker tries to Bitlock the already encrypted Iron Key drive. Ideally, we would like to force users to either Bitlock removable drives or use Iron Keys which have their own drive encryption. Is there a way to do this? Is there a way to bypass the Bitlocker check for Iron Keys when they are plugged into the PCs?View the full article

Hi , I bought a refurbished desktop from Dell. It came with windows 10 installed . It initially wouldn't upgrade to windows 11 until I enabled TPM which was turned off. I now have windows 11 and the option to roll back has passed. I want to reset the pc to factory settings keeping windows 11. Will resetting the pc turn off TPM or will this setting remain turned on. I hope this makes senseAlso I'm a bit confused by the recovery options there is more than one recovery partition. Does anyone know the difference, many thanks in advanceView the full article
