Every time I power up, I get an error message inviting me to send it to Microsoft. It says "Some unexpected errors have happened to software you recently used." The message for MS is always the same: "The error report contains the following file: NDP1.1sp1_KB2742597_X86_wrapper.log version.txt" When I switch the computer off, there is always an update to download, which I have assumed is meant to deal with the error. How can I find out what is generating the error? My version of Windows is XP. Is there a way of checking that the update is the same every time? View this thread

I installed Bing Desktop when it was first released and didn't see any benefit of having it. Since then, I have always hidden that update in Windows Update on all my own computers as well as the ones that I maintain for family members and my office at work. I find it very annoying that the update never stays hidden when I check optional updates usually after waiting at least a month between checks on many of those computers. I choose to hide it again, but it has reappeared over and over on so many different computers. I have noticed this on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines. The only other optional updates that I hide are additional language packs and I have rarely seen those optional updates reappear after hiding them. If I do see them again, it is usually after some major repair, so it doesn't really surprise me. What is going on with the Bing Desktop update that won't let it stay hidden? View this thread

Installed windows 7 to two computers but now 1 computer states that its not genuine while the other has been upgraded to windows 8. (didn't know that I could only install on one pc, the box didn't have any info regarding that or I didn't look hard enough.) Can I ask microsoft to let me activate the product on that one computer or do I have to buy a new product key? Thanks for the help. View the thread

Sometimes I have unticked the box so they would not come up again. When I at a later date go on the web to check for updates I am informed that there are hidden updates available. And presto the problem starts all over again. The numbers are as follows: 2789643, 2742569, 2756918, 2729450, 2604092, 982168 . I download and install them today and next day they are offered again.( almost like the terminater. They are BAAACK) Regards Werner View this thread

Versions: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM Build Kit and Windows 7 ProfessionalError: Setup loads correctly until the actual installation process. During the first stage (Copying Files), the system stops and seems to be stuck on an infinite loop. Installation media is not being read from (DVD for HP and USB for Pro), yet no error messages appear. Hardware is certified to be compatible with Windows 7 according to the merchant and hardware manufacturers.Other info:8GB RAM (single stick)500GB HDD (new out of the box, no previous OS)24x DVD-RW Drive reading an official Windows disc (Home Premium)USB 2.0 Flash Memory Stick, 4.0GB (Professional)i5 Quad-Core 3.2GHz ProcessorThis is a machine I assembled for my brother, with the same parts and specifications as my own machine I built 2 months ago. That includes an identical Windows 7 Home Premium Build Kit. I am posting this help topic on the working machine, while he waits patiently for his to continue past the first installation step. We decided to use our Professional USB boot since the first attempt was not succeeding and my own disc didn't help, yet the problem persisted. Any help will be appreciated. View the thread

I'm having a real dilemma. I recently re installed Windows 7 64 bit and everything has ran pretty smoothly till now. I downloaded the massive amount of updates from Windows and then let it install. This is all before I rebooted. When the install was at about 60%, I was kind of dumb and tried to install another program at the same time Windows was installing its updates. At that time is when I got a blue screen of death. The error message said a driver called nwifi.sys. So then when the computer booted and configured the updates that had been installed so far, I started the Windows install again and I left it alone. I got another blue screen with the error message saying hdaudbus.sys. But when I booted and started to configure the updates, it said that the update failed and it was reverting back. This is where I got the blue screen again saying the nwifi.sys error also. I have tried all the restore options but I have no back ups or anything of the type other than the install disc. I am able to boot in safe mode. I'm thinking its some corrupt half installed file but I have no idea what to do. I kept trying to boot normally but I can't without getting the blue screen at the configuring updates part. It seems the error message randomly changes between the nwifi.sys and the hdaudbus.sys. I have tried all the troubleshooters and I no restore options other than a clean install...again. I have no restore points either. Please help. Thank you. If it helps at all My computer is an Asus N61Jq - A1 Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium ATI 5730 Graphics Engine with 1GB DDR3 Dedicated VRAM Intel Core i7-720QM Processor 1.6GHz 4GB of DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM P.S. I don't even have Windows 7 service pack 1 Another thing you should know is that most of the time I have limited internet access because I live overseas at a US Army installation in the Marshall Islands so I have to bring my laptop to the local snackbar to accses high speed internet. I have only dial up at my house. Thank you! View this thread

Windows 8 is the worst program I ever tried to use. I actually returned the new Dell laptop I bought because of Windows 8. Couldn't figure out how to paste and copy. Couldn't stop it from jumping from screen to screen. Going to corners with the cursor to do anything is RIDICULOUS. Dell representative actually offered me $50 to keep the computer and suggested I sell it to someone else. Really? Windows 8 - MASSIVE FAIL.Now looking at Macs. View this thread
