Character map letters are font size 13. Can they be changed to something else while in Character map or do I have to continually do it once I've copied and pasted into my document? View this thread

I have a 3 year old Toshiba laptop where the HDD died. I have reinstalled Windows 7 using a family members installation disk as my laptop was pre-loaded and without the disk. My serial number no longer works and I do not wish to repurchase. I also do not wish to reformat as I have a number of files that I have put on it since the install - Is this possible? How do I fix a "runtime error" with internet explorer. I have gone to the control panel to just delete Internet Explorer and re-install a new clean Internet Explorer but there is no Internet Explorer listed in the Programs that will give me the option to delete. View this thread

I am trying to install windows updates KB2736428,KB2742595 (Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2742595)) (Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2736428)). I keep getting Error Code 643.I am using Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 64-bit. It was installed clean on my drive by myself . I have had no problems downloading updates till now. This problem stated on 01/10/13. It went on for a while as the updates were on automatic. I have had several updates of MS security essentials and several optional updates the last of which was today (of the keyboard and mouse). It is only these two that are giving me a problem.I have researched online to an extensive degree and have found no solution that works, including Microsoft's Mr. Fixit. I want to burn multiple albums to an Audio CD. The CD has 4.3gb. However, when I load multiple albums to be burned it separates them i.e. Disc 1, Disc 2 etc. When I try burning it burns only one Album at a time per CD, ejects the CD and asks for another CD to complete my burn list. Am I doing something wrong? It seems like such a waste of space. View this thread

I purchased Windows 7 Professional and on the actual disc it states that it "Includes Windows Anytime Upgrade" yet when I try to enter the Product Key the response from the website is invalid key!!!! First my computer locked my keyboard out, I thought it was just the wireless one with flat batteries, and I tried everything. Not even an old 101 keyboard would function on my system - so I reloaded a clean install of Windows 7 and started getting update errors. Two days later and I am still trying to reload it having checked proxy settings, firewall components, runnint anti-malware rootkits, running troubleshooters that don't work (but claim to have resolved the problems) etcetera. Serves me right for believing a WINDOWS operating system would function. Microsoft, once again, you've made my day. View this thread

Playing a game (Hearts- Hardwood Hearts) on line everything worked good for a few weeks than it stopped downloading because download manager wasn't installed. When I receive a forwarded email it seems to end up in the wrong folder and ignores the rules that I've set. Are there special rules relating to items forwarded? Does it know where the email has been forwarded from and it reads that address instead of the original sender? View the thread

So I purchased a new laptop with Win7 installed in it, and decided to take advantage of the cheap Win8 upgrade offer - just in case. I'm not willing to fully commit myself to Win8 yet but I'd like to fiddle around with it anyway, and so I tried to create a dual boot on another partition which failed because of the disk being of GPT style. Now, after reading a bit, I though of this: would I be able to delete the existing partitions and reformat the drive to be MBR and then reinstall Win7 (from a recovery DVD) in this new partition, and then install Win8 after that on a new second partition? Would this work (as in not making any harm to the drive itself), and get my system to dual boot both of them? View the thread

I can usually figure stuff out on my own, but this one has been driving me nuts for 2 hours now as it's just one of those things that &quotshould&quot just work. I've got a Win 8 test machine here with our MSDN copy of Win 8 on it. I'm trying to &quotadd new features&quot and get it upgraded to Win 8 Pro with our MSDN Win 8 Pro Key. The Win 8 Pro key is input and accepted and the upgrade takes off. Upon 1st reboot feature installation gets to around 90%, then fails. 2nd reboot it tries again and immediately fails, then reverts the system to Win 8 Basic. Error upon logging reads: &quotFailed Adding Windows Features. Previous version of windows restored. Contact support&quot. I have scoured the net and try several solutions including: 1. Clean boot without optional apps and services: Same Results 2. Diagnostic boot: unable to verify key as needed services for wifi are disabled. (Guess I could enable them all, but was skeptical). 3. sfc /scannow. Complete with no errors found 4. Ran windows update troubleshooter: found 2 issues and resolved, but same results upon pro upgrade. 5. Applied all available updates: Same Results. 6. Event logs show no associated errors. I'd rather not spend 4 hours on the phone with MS for this issue, and would rather not have to reinstall our test machine. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. View the full article

My HP office jet j4680 all in one has suddnely gone from devises. I did uninstall this printer and tried to reinstall with soft. And then error 1053 came up during the process of reinstalling this same printer. I went to "Service" and double click print spooler, only start botton is on and got 1053 error if I click start. I have another lap top and has worked with this printer as wireless. View the thread
