I am using Windows 7 with a 32-bit operating system and I am unable to install KB2685811 (Update for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7) and also KB2592687 (Update for Windows 7). KB2685811 has the error 800F0826 while KB2592687 has the error 8007007E. My antiviruses for now are McAfee and Microsoft Security Essentials but before I installed Microsoft Security Essentials I had the trial version of Norton. Initially I had over 10 updates but after trying to install them I received the 'Failure to configure updates, reverting changes' message. So I decided to install them one by one and have successfully installed them but the only these are the only 2 updates that are still failing to configure. I have also tried the Windows Update Troubleshooter but it does not seem to be helping. Other solutions say that you have to change your temp files from your RAM to C: but I have checked and my temp files are already in C: Thanks in advance for your responses. View this thread

Hello, I recently finished building my first computer. I mistakenly installed windows 8 and it has been a disaster. After finally getting it installed any time I tried to install a driver, or even just Google chrome, my computer will freeze. I have no control of the mouse or keyboard and I am forced to manually shut down the computer. Is there a fix for this windows 8 freezing issue? View the full article

Hi - I have a 2008 desktop with Vista 7 and Windows Mail. Since June 2012 (7 months ago) whenever I send an attachment, ( one photo of any size or a large Excell file) my computer will send. However... the recipient gets a dozen or so packets that cannot be opened. Frustrating and the impression of a "stupid sender" or a virus issue. This situation with my computer arose when a neighbour sent me a photo from her phone and I forwarded that photo. I have Norton antivurus that is current. My Windows updates are current. Thoughts to a solution please? Mark Soehner Calgary View this thread

I am migrating our office from a workgroup to a Server 2012 Essentials server. Things have gone smoothly with the Win 7 desktops where the local user account migrated automatically. The problems started with the Windows 8 machines where the migration is not automatic. I have used the Easy Transfer wizard to backup my profile, but when I try to port it to my new domain account, there is no option to select the domain user--only my previous local user. I read in another post where the problem is related to the local user being a "Microsoft Account" user, and my account was of that type when I ran the WETW. What do I need to do to get our three Win 8 users migrated? I am running Win 8 Pro 64-bit. View the full article

I still have no wireless mouse or keyboard and no one seems to know how to fix it but I came across another problem today. I got the free serial number emailed to me from Microsoft and attempted to follow the instructions and download it. As mentioned I have no keyboard so using a wired mouse I cut and pasted the '"Add Features" into the search box as instructed. All I got in the settings tab is a box that enables me to turn Windows features on and off. There is nothing there at all about adding new features. How do I find the download so I can install it. I have never known an operating system as complicated and awkward to use and for a Microsoft keyboard and mouse not being recognised is ridiculous. Can anyone help with this issue or with my keyboard issue as well ! Thank You View the full article

There is a problem out here that seems to have NEVER been answered. The problem is a real stinker and search here, in the forums and in the wild seem to turn up emptly. This has to do with updating various versions of Windows Vista to SP2 or Windows 8 causing untold numbers to be stuck. For me I do have anothe boot volume with a fresh install of Win7 but I still would like to have my Vista volume upgraded from SP1 to SP2 and maybe to Win7. For me it is on a faster drive and I have done some many things to this volume over the time that I have used that I could never rebuild it with a fresh install. WindowsUpdate_80004002

Over the last weeks nearly every time I turn on my desktop computer (Windows 7 64 Bit) I get a message in the Action Centre telling me that I need to turn on Windows Automatic Update. Each time I do as requested and select Automatic Update (Recommended). Then the next time I turn on my computer the same thing happens again. I am getting the same message on my laptop (Windows 7 32 Bit). Does anybody have any ideas as to what is causing this problem and how to rectify the problem? It is not a big issue just a nuisance. Dear Community, I downloaded Windows 8 on the advice of an engineer who said it would make my PC work more efficiently. It seems to have deleted all my files and folders from my documents and my favourites area, I can't find anything. I paid £24.99 for the download and would like to get my money back. Can anyone advise please? View this thread

I inserted a new CD into my PC and it came up correctly. I then copied it to my hard drive but couldn't get it to come up from that copy. I inserted the new CD into my PC again, but this time it wouldn't come up. I took the new CD to a second PC and it came up correctly. I then took an old CD and inserted it in the first PC and it came up correctly. In other words, the new CD and the first PC seem to be working correctly except when they are together. Another point: when I insert the new CD into the first PC, go to Windows Explorer and hit Computer/DVD drive, the area of the screen which should show the amount of disc space used and the amount still free, is blank. And a final point: when I insert the new CD into my PC, there can be heard the usual clicks but not the few seconds of whirring sound which often can be heard when a CD is 'warming up'. Can you help? Starting this morning whenever I tried to sign in to Hotmail (IE 10 Desktop) the URL would flash between -- I think -- Hotmail.com and live.com and then tell me it encountered a problem and to try to login later. I verified that other sites requiring the same authentication (e.g. SkyDrive) didn't have this issue. (At this time the "Modern" IE 10 seemed to work fine but later on it began displaying the same behavior as the Desktop version). I fired up a new Windows 7 VM, IE 9, went to Hotmail and successfully logged in. Next I disabled all Start-up Addins for IE 10 Desktop but now when I try to login to Hotmail I get a 5050 answer: 50% of the time the application crashes, the other 50% of the time it asks me to logon later. I also tried logging into "live.com" instead of "Hotmail.com" and am getting the flashing URL bar again and the message "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later." Finally, I found that by running Desktop IE 10, as Administrator, my login was accepted. I was going to uninstallreinstall IE 10 but could not any such option. For what it is worth, Windows Defender did not find any issues. How can I determine the source of this issue? TIA, edm2 View the full article

I get a message that says to insert a writable disk but it always spits it back out. Another thing when I check the available space on my E drive disc the diagram shows the whole disc is blue. It does not show any numbers indicating available space. I thought maybe there was a problem with my CD-R disc's so I bought some CD-RW disc's but it didn't make any difference. I have been using my DVD player to watch movies and play music I have recorded on disc's with no problems. I just don't understand why when I find songs on Frostwire I want to record that it ejects the disc when I tell it to burn the song. It didn't seem to matter if I was in the torrent section or the Library section on Frostwire. I'm very frustrated please help, thank you. View this thread
