I feel no respect for Microsoft, Al.

I've also tried Linux, I had no problems with hardware but couldn't run

my favourite software programs.

What were your Windows 7x64 problems?

Al doesn't actually have Windows 7x64 problems. What he has is tinkering

problems. He tinkers, then fucks something up, then blames Microsoft. If

you search his name in this group and read his posts you'll see what I mean.

The point is that if Microsoft wanted to own you and exploit all your

most secret stuff, MS would just build an untraceable and unblockable

connection into the 10+ GB of Windows 7 code. It wouldn't have to sneak

it in as an update. The only defense would be a pair of wire cutters

applied to your internet connection. If you run Windows and connect to

the internet, you are trusting Microsoft, whether you like it, or not.

Blocking updates to protect yourself from Microsoft is just silly.

Epson decided not to write any driver for my scanner for x64

Windows (Vista or 7). Nothing I can do, except run it on my

netbook, which has XP. Not really Microsoft's fault, but it is a

problem with Windows 7 for a lot of older hardware. The

manufacturers just won't write drivers for them. So now I have to

hook up my scanner to my netbook to scan anything, and I've vowed

never to buy another Epson product (they are shit anyway, so this

wasn't a difficult decision to make).

Got a new power supply today and Ubuntu works just fine. Your statement

that Ubuntu can break a power supply comes from your contact on Pluto?

I have lots of real, well paying work to do and I'm glad I have my

Ubuntu box up and running again. Got any more obvious lies you'd like to

share?

Problem solved. My copy is legal but a MS update can do this. The

cure it to undo the update. All is well now.

Which update did you uninstall?
