You understand wrong. The registry is NOT read sequentially. Whether it has

1000 entries or 3 million, the access time differs by, at most, a few

nanoseconds.

time you do something. Only what's needed is read, and with random

access to it.

bringing up are precisely the ones who recommend routinely running registry

cleaners to "enhance performance" and "speed up the computer" (cough). By
