Perhaps you should re-read the whole of this thread again. Perhaps you'd
then report back if there was any confusion. Thanks.

Dave

PS Thank you for responding at all btw! <wink>

You are correct. I meant Root Kit. I will shut up now because this whole
darn thread is getting too confusing.

Don't worry. Surprise can lead to a lot of positives.

>You need to be polite in newsgroups.

Where is this stated?

>You need to try and help others if you can.

Huh? - Newsgroups are forums for discussion. They are not support
forums, just in case you didn't know. Anyway, helping others is what I
often do. Just not in the common way of doing things. Instead I'm
opening the eyes of those willing to learn and make them start
thinking for themselves. Those who are ignorant to learn is waste of
time anyway.

>You need to allow others to help you and not accuse them falsely and degrade them as

Degrades and insults are purely subjective matters.

> You need to be humble

Says who? I've no reason to.

> and even if you have been in IT for a long time then you need
>to prove it to us

See, I didn't mention this to brag about it.

>because there has been so many lies

Now you're starting something very ugly here.

So first of all you better state *exactly* in what respect I have been
lying and what I have been lying about! - And you better be very
precise, little man! Otherwise, I expect to have heard the final word
from you.

>that no one believes or trusts you anymore.

Trust and belief from people I only know from a newsgroup is of very
low priority to me.

>You need to respect MVP's

Why should I? How does a title add anything to ones competence?

>even if they sometimes make mistakes because we are all human.

oh..

>You talk about your own brilliance as being in IT twice as long as Robear

Actually I didn't.

>but what have you contributed to help other users.

Once again. Newsgroups are discussion forums. Not contribution forums
to gain some kind of rank.

> If you are willing to really change and show us that you have changed then
>possibly restrictions on you may someday be lifted.

Are you somehow in charge here?

> Finally, do not expect me to make a habit of responding to your posts

I won't loose any sleep over that.

>because you hurt me with your words in the past as well.

Words in a newsgroup shouldn't be able to hurt. Only when people with
low self esteem *decide* to be hurt or insulted can this occur. Very
similar to people choosing to be conveniently "insulted" by some
cartoons.

Newsgroups offer peer-to-peer *support* as well as a venue for on-topic,
newsgroup-specific (e.g., security) discussions. They are not "chat rooms."

Not when they're in violation of the Code of Conduct.

Mutual respect is expected everywhere in a civil society, especially if
you're seeking assistance from *volunteers* (which include MS MVPs).

Hi Paul.

I'm so sorry to have misunderstood! :(

I went to the very link posted by Robear Dyer here in this thread and
somehow thought that those rules DID apply to these groups.

Please post the link to where the 'Code of Conduct' for *these* newsgroups
are to be found. I cannot find /any/ other 'rules'.

If it helps, at the current time I am using OE6 to read these messages -
