| Yes, I believe that is true. I'd just keep a copy of the replacement
| DLLs in a separate folder and copy them back. Better yet, ZIP them.
|
| I wont have that problem, I am not going to reinstall IE6. IE5.5 is
| fine, since I rarely ever use IE anyhow.

The use of IE5.5 may give up certain protections & improvements of IE6,
but IE6 isn't getting any new ones, anyhow.

Yes, one should keep the two .dll's handy for a switch back to get a new
Windows Update or to run the IE Repair Tool. Chauvin actually wrote an
app to do that & also should be thanked for that info. But MS has
stopped providing updates to IE6 for Win98. Also, it is exceedingly rare
one need to run the IE Repair tool (or that it would fix anything if
run, even).

Yes I post directly to microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion, and when my
posts show up I can see the time stamp is current and accurate.

> Heroes hasn't even begun-- so, I can't accuse you of time travel!

Very soon though :)
The few series I indulge in are already auto set to record from last
seasons settings, I can see them showing up now on the to do list (using
DTV) and in 1080i HiDef as well.

Very strange, then. Looking at the Properties of our posts, I see...

Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2008 19:24:31 -0400 << My response

....But I am in...

(GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

....in Date/Time Properties. Maybe something is wrong on my end!?! I
guess I'll have to look over that zone change thing I did so long ago!
Can I have undone it somehow? Now I have to remember what that was all
about-- sheesh! Are you on a Win98? Does your Registry key look like
this...?...

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Time
Zones\Eastern]
"Display"="(GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)"
"Dlt"="Eastern Daylight Time"
"Std"="Eastern Standard Time"
"MapID"="38,39"
"TZI"=hex:2c,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,0b,00,00,00,01,00,02

00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,02,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

I'm thinking my post's Properties could be showing -04:00 because we are
in the "daylight savings" period or visa versa. What do you think?

I have that too now. I was surprised I could pick up HDTV over the air
with my Vizio VW37L TV & a Philips Mant510 indoor antenna. And it's
working fine again after a spell of lost DTV channels!

You been on vacation? Had to do a Google AGS to find you!

Took a break for some medical treatment that couldn't be done in-house. Had
to travel to the other end of the River where the water tastes like blech! I
don't own a working laptop, and there you have it.

Might be a while getting back into full swing, but you never know when I
might decide it's show time, eh?(Wow! Some Canadian has taken over my
tongue!) Am I especially needed over there?

Try this. (in both Win98xE and WinXP)

--------------------------- Cut Here ---------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoActiveDesktop"=hex:01,00,00,00
There needs to be a blank line below this line

--------------------------- Cut Here ---------------------------

Should help when exchanging the DLL's mentioned above as well.

Oh, and of course i also do the following:

[Start] : [Run...] : Command : [Ok] :

RegSvr32.exe /u WebVw.dll

Acknowledge the dialog saying it worked.

Exit [Return]
.... to close the Command Window.

(Reboot)

( I'm suddenly unsure which one does what, i use both. )

( [WebVw.dll] can be re-registered, 'RegSvr32.exe WebVw.dll' if
need arise and the 'NoActiveDesktop' reg-entry can be deleted or
set to numerical 'Zero', if so desired. )
