KB2729450 loads but the Update Icon is still in the System Tray, etc. XP Home Edition, SP3. A Belarc Advisor scan shows the file (KB 2729450) unprotected with this message: (An Unlocked Lock) "Marks a security hotFix that fails verification (a security vulnerability)" I have uninstalled KB 2729450 and, upon shut down I click on "Do not install update". After applying patches KB2769034, KB2761226, KB2737084 and KB2727528 on 15/11/2012, my Intel 82578DC network adapter driver failed on windows start up. I have to re-install the driver every time the computer started. I have installed the latest network adapter driver from Intel website and it does not help. View this thread

The little box flashes up and says the issue " Bluetooth Stacking Error". I was told this had something to do with Windows updates. My new computer is running Windows 7 Pro and has several Microsoft programs listed in start up but they do not open. I am particularly interested in Windows Mail (A vista e-mail client) and I can find it in the C drive and it has my contacts in it but no messages. My cd drive stopped working and I received some instructions to uninstall and then reinstall it. Needless to say, I assumed that the automatic driver search feature would find the driver. So I uninstalled the driver and the system could not find the software to reinstall the driver. I have gone to the Microsoft site to find the driver, but it is not available there. Cannot get past the desktop any longer. Freezes up, clicking on dialog boxes does nothing most of the time. Clicking on some dialog boxes will close them but leaves the box empty and completely whited out. The icon over the task bar is different than that that is over the desktop. Everything works just fine in safe mode. I've worked on this for almost 3 weeks and have given in to asking for help. One of my diagnostic checks gives multiple(IRQ) did not set in time. (OFOO:0132 or OFOO:XXXX ) Running Vista Basic 32 bit. Have done a system restore (not a complete reboot) and it made it so that the cursor would move around on the desktop (but produced no results most of the time) as opposed to before when the cursor was just immediately frozen. Also received DST Short Test Failed and OFOO:065D. Disk-DST Self Test Read Error. Remember that in Safe Mode I can do everything just fine. It's the only way I can access the internet. How does one go about getting help with BSODs? I've got one that happens regularly and a couple of other isolated ones. I have BlueScreenView and DriverView to look at the errors but not sure where and how much to post to get a guru to help me identify where the driver, software or hardware issue is. I'm from the Philippines, and I was trying to add a default credit card in the Account Settings. Sadly the only available country is USA and Canada. Hence I cannot make any purchases in the Windows store. I was hoping to make a few magazine subscriptions. I would really appreciate any help regarding this matter. Hi Guys, I have upgraded my Lenovo Desktop Pc from windows 7 Pro to Windows 8 Pro which worked without any issue for couple of days. But it all went wrong after downloading and installing the new updates. I restarted the PC and it got stuck on configuring updates on 13%. I waited for half an hour, PC restarted and stuck again on 13%. To try to troubleshoot the issue. I turned it off and then press shift+F8 and did the system restore from advanced option and it worked. I ran Windows update troubleshooter which showed me that problem has been found but its been fixed and the problem was with "potential windows update database error detected 0*80070490". I checked for the updates again, downloaded and installed them then restarted the machine with a hope that updates will be configured without any issue but encountered the same problem. I am continuously trying to find the solution for it and any help will be appreciated. Thanks View the full article

On my old laptop which had Windows XP, I used to be able to have open and could view several pages of the internet (by reducing the size of the pages) at the same time, now that I have Windows 7, I can't seem to have several pages open on the screen at the same time. I am running Vista Home Premium. I recently asked about Widows Defender and Services to improve the computer's performance. I received a satisfactory answer but decided to "go it alone" and have a look at the System Configuration because my computer (laptop) always sounds very business and is prone to slowing right down when I go on line. I tried disabling some of start up and services which went ok initially but I think I got too carried away and things started going wrong such as being unable to connect with the internet so I had to do a system restore. Where I live doesn't have a strong signal for wireless broadband which is not very helpful but that's why I'm trying to optimise my computer to make the most of what I've got. Which brings me to the question whether I should install the Optimiser, I'm a little wary about downloading such things but need some advice on which services I could disable to give a little more performance strength. I get very confused about on that matter, don't understand the terminology. Can somebody help please? View this thread

I'm using windows mail, vista64, have my tools-options-compose-mail font set to 11 pt. calibri. I'm not using any stationary and sending mail in HTML format. When composing email, my font settings default to 10 pt. calibri. as soon as I click into the compose area (according to the font drop down box above the email body). If I access that drop down box, my options are only 8, 10, 12, 14 pt....etc. How can I compose using the font size I want?
