So what's new? Windows can do all that - and more - without all the faffing

about trying to get a peripheral to work properly (or even work)!

Somebody need paying for all the work - and why would DRM be needed if all

the composers and artists stopped doing 'their thing' because there is no

profit in it - would *YOU* work for nothing, would *YOU* want *YOUR* work

stolen? I really doubt you would do that - presuming you actually do

*WORK*!

And you *really* believe that Linfux is *IMMUNE* from such attacks? If you

do, then come of that cloud and Google a bit - and you will find that whilst

attacks are not that common, Linfux (and Apple) have been successfully

attacked and machines infected - and that's why anti-virus, firewalls and

malware applications are written for it!!

Only *fools* and *idiots* believe that Linfux (and its derivatives) is

immune from nasties - and infallible to boot!

Now which are you? *eg*

Someone asked Mick Jagger why he was on tour after his divorce from

Bianca and he said, "I'm broke and need to make some money". When asked

about his records, he replied, "no one but the record companies make

money on that". Cry me a fucking river but don't DRM my computer.

Name one malware in the wild currently attacking Linux boxes and I'll

name hundreds, if not thousands, of malware for Windows.

Never said it is infallible but compared to Windows it's bullet proof

which is the point, dumb ass.

Rare, and if your Linux is properly locked down, one has to not only

give permission, but type in their password as well for higher level

processes, so sure if on the very rare occasion one is stupid enough to

give higher level permission having not started the process

himself/herself, they jolly well deserve what they get really. Sorry but

with computing and networking, I have NO compassion for stupidity.

Either get educated or suffer the consequences. I work very hard to

educate my clients and except for a few that ignore what they have been

taught, I am gaining ground with them. Bummer, as constant infected

Winders machines is a cash cow really. Those that I have convinced to

dual boot with Linux I hardly hear from... My bad I guess, lost revenue

there! LOL ..BUT, happier clients, and more referrals.

Anti virus for Linux is mostly so you don't pass along infected emails

that came in from infected Winders machines etc. forwarded to Winders

machines. I have run the Linux ClamAV from time to time out of curiosity

mostly, over the past few years and nope nothing on my machine in

general, however it has caught crap sent to me in emails from infected

Winders machines that my ISP's AV didn't catch. Hmmm Imagine that.. LOL

> Only *fools* and *idiots* believe that Linfux (and its derivatives) is

> immune from nasties - and infallible to boot!

Only "fools" and "idiots" think they are safe with Winders at all, and

think Linux isn't better, SAFER, (NOT infallible, nothing is), about

security than Winders. Anyone who claims they never get hit with a

Winders Virus is most likely a liar. As one that is savvy, and one who

practices very safe hex, I have caught them while in Winders going to

sites I very well knew were ok before, but got hacked and the

virus/malware STILL installed bypassing both Winders and AV. As stated

by another person, name ONE, ONE, threat that is going wild amongst

personal computer Linux boxes. Well? I have just recently had to clean 4

client's computers running Winders and with GOOD updated AV that caught

"nasties" from simply visiting trusted sites that had been hacked. BAM!

No warning at all and they were infected. I visited the same sites while

booted to Linux, and well, here I am MY box is STILL "clean." LOL Get

real eh?

I beta tested then RC tested Win7, then pre-ordered and eventually

installed it as, yep, a dual boot with Linux. (And Vista so triple boot,

Ug, the Wife likes Vista..Why? Beats me! lol) While I like Win7 a lot

and use it for various reasons, my mainstay is Linux for serious

security purposes period. (AND, incredible customization/effects) I use

them both for the best of BOTH worlds.

Try Googling and you will get the answer, as for the number - well look at

Windows users compared to Linfux users and do the maths youself to see which

is the most profitable to attack.

A contradiction there I believe dumb-fuck, and Linfux is certaing *NOT*

"bullet proof" - there are less attacks on it simply because of the

comparatively low number of users. And why are the users of it low?

Because of all the fucking about to get things to work - it's mostly only

geeks who love spending hours typing command lines and those who like

playing with themselves prefer toying with Linfux.

Oh dear, another windroid who is unfamiliar with the differences in

architecture between Windows and Linux.

Due to MS FUD and because most people haven't heard of it but that's

changing fast.

That's not the point. DRM restricts fair use. If I BUY a CD then why

shouldn't I be able to listen to it on my laptop, my HiFi OR my mp3 player?

After all I can't listen to all three at once...

It's far more immune that Windows by design.

Nothing to do with "profitability" - it's all down to EASE of attack. A

ten-year old can write a Windows virus...

So as Linux runs the majority of web servers, where are all the Linux

viruses then?

Not so. See above. It's the DIFFICULTY of writing Linux viruses, not the

numbers of boxes. As I said - Linux runs the majority of web servers so by

your logic there should be loads of Linux viruses. But there aren't. AFAIK

there's only a hundred or less in the wild as opposed to MILLIONS of Windows

viruses.

Cretin. My Ubuntu just works out of the box - no "typing command lines" at

all.

Why is it the MS shills have to resort to abuse, disinformation and

downright LIES rather than coherent argument? Because they HAVE no coherent

argument.

Not my experience. The printer was a couple of clicks. The scanner

Can't read? Reread it and maybe you will see why you just asked a stupid

question.

But the question is

> still unanswered - would *you* want *your* work stolen?

My work is providing a service and it's impossible to steal unless you

steal me and make me work for you for free. In Spain, where I live, if

you buy a blank CD, you pay what they call a "canon", money that goes to

the recording and film industry to make up for downloaded music and

songs. Our constitution (one of the most modern in the world) prevents

judges from ruling on the side of the multinational music and film

industries when they try to fine some poor grandmother hundreds of

thousands of dollars for downloading ten songs.

No, that was the impression you wanted and think you got.

You missed the phrase "compared to Windows" again.

No, it has to do with the differences in architecture.

No, the reason is that most people believe the FUD MS and others spread

about Linux and most don't know how user friendly it is. You are a

perfect example of a FUD True Believer.

Ain't that the truth. ..According to actual MS internal documents I have

read myself that were released to the public as a result of ONE of the

antitrust lawsuits, that IS their standard M.O. ..Disinformation, FUD,

intimidation, lies, astroturfing, ETC. (All the despicable crap) No

mystery there, as their methods have been exposed for all to see if they

want to investigate. Uninformed people have no idea just how low MS will

and does go to develop, promote themselves and products. Even their

claims of user base numbers is 1/2 truths or out-and-out lies. There

could be 200mil computers sitting on shelves around the world, but they

dishonestly include those in their "sales" figures related to USERS

using their product. And Blamer is SO proud, LOL, what a pig.

No big surprise if one has educated them self as to how MS got started.

(The early days) Lies, stealing technology, dirty dealings, cheating,

sneaky underhanded crap, and so on, yet the Zealots and Shills ignore or

flatly deny the TRUTH. (LOL, Standard MO) BUT, the INFORMED know jolly

well better, so the Shills/Zealots can cackle all they want, but it's

pretty hard to deny what is written in black and white. ..Try as they

will to deny..

You mean like how L.T. reversed engineered unix to make linux? Is that

the kind of stealing, cheating and lying you're referring to?

2007:

"In the United States, SCO's Linux/Unix litigation has been stalled out

while the company's bankruptcy trial is being dealt with. In Germany,

however, several court cases have found SCO Group GmbH, SCO's Germany

branch, guilty of lying about Linux containing stolen Unix code."

They were found guilty of LYING, get it? Not merely accusing but

flat-out LYING..

NOVELL owns Unix yet they have no problem with Linux, instead they

EMBRACE Linux and have a Distro of their own.

It is a Unix LIKE OS, nothing more. Furthermore, L.T. hasn't spent a

lifetime with disinformation, FUD, intimidation, lies, astroturfing,

stealing technology, dirty dealings, cheating, sneaky underhanded crap

to promote his OS, unlike MS and its OS and other software. MS Office

ring a bell? They just LOST a lawsuit for what? Yep, for AGAIN stealing

someone else's technology and incorporating it into theirs.. LOL

Everyone act surprised!
