No, I'm rebutting Alias' assertions that Ubuntu is the end all and be

all of operating systems and can do no wrong. Never fails, etc.

I'm merely pointing out that Ubuntu does have problems, as does any

other O.S.

As far as discrediting you, it is difficult to discredit a liar, as I

have demonstrated you to be.

As far as Ubuintu goes it is simply another flavor of Linux. Perhaps

more financially (goodness, they even market tee-shirts) inclined then

other versions that feel the open-source standards are to be adhered

to, and in the final analysis very much designed for Newbees, which

given you demonstrated knowledge of computer systems is the most

likely reason you extol its charms.

We all know that will never happen with Windows being the OEMs

choice for pre-installedd OSs. Now, if PCs suddenly came with

no OS, and you absolutely had to select, purchase, and then

install, the OS, maybe then...........

I'm not so sure.

Quite a few years ago I was somewhat of an OS-2 advocate. Even wrote a

newspaper column about it. I remember talking with a good friend in

Singapore one day and he was saying that it would be nice if someone

made a multi-tasking system for a PC. I replied, "what about OS2", and

he'd never heard of it. If you remember, IBM did quite a bit of

advertising about OS2, spots on TV, road shows, seminars, the whole 9

yards. and my mate never heard of it...

I suspect it would be no different today.

Well, quite a few years ago....talking OS/2, you're talking 20

+ years ago. A LOT has changed in 20 years.

You friend was in Singapore, possibly the advertising was

mostly US? It's hard to say what would happen now, with the

advent of advanced mobile technology and the explosion of the

internet, who knows. We can watch a war on TV half way across

the world as it happens, and news travels instantly, as does a

lot of information, so it's quite difficult to predict what

would happen, now.

No, creep, that was your girlfriend Alias.

He told someone to shove the CD up his "sanctimonious ass" , so I replied

that ubuntu was good for that.

For some reason, although he said it first, you choose to respond to me.

Seems you just wanna stick up for your little girlfriend.

He probably does need your help, as he is clueless in all aspects of life,

Oses, and history apparently.

No, IBM was very active in Singapore. Seminars and TV adverts. In

fact, at the time, the terminals in the Singapore Airport were running

OS2.

There might be an explosion of news but all one has to do is read this

news group and it is easy to see that many do not comprehend, or

prefer to accept only a biased viewpoint.

What I saw was Alias' 'Only Six More Days to Go' thread

started on Fri the 23rd.

You were the first reply, and you deleted the list and

said,'It can be shoved up ones sanctimonious ass '.

*That*, is what I was referencing.

See above. I don't read many Alias posts that are more than a

level or two deep in a thread because by that time it's down

to two 'people' just calling each other liars.

Correcting misinformation about Linux, and calling you an

egotistical narcissist isn't sticking up for any person.
