Another of the Nymshifter's attempts to be funny with bathroom humor. Yawn.

Are you always this picky? Are you so fucking desperate that you have to

resort to this?

I'd like a free operating system that does everything that Windows 7

does, and more. However, it turns out that it can't really do what Win 7

does can it?

Thanx for your input Alias

Nope, it can't run the viruses, trojans and other malware that Windows

is so good at. It doesn't do a lot of games yet but it could if the

gaming folks would port it.

And the Game companies won't port to Ubuntu because there are,

possibly, 12 million copies of the system. MS sold some 30 million

copies of windows 7 in April alone.

And it won't run a lot of "industry standard" programs like Word and

Photoshop, AutoCad and many others. So if your work uses any of these

applications or you interface with others using these applications you

will find Linux an inferior system.

A simple example:

It is common practice to exchange construction drawings between the

work site and the parent design office. In this way modifications

during construction can be made, and approved, and the corrected

drawings furnished to all parties. This practice is so common that

nearly all contracts will contain language specifying that the

contractor will utilize Auto Cad, or another, specified, drafting

application. If Linux were your only computer system you would be

unable to even bid on the work.

Another example:

I communicated, last year, with an Australian sailing magazine who's

editor specified that all submitted materials be in MS Word format.

I could go on, but why bother. Linux doesn't run windows programs. If

you want or need to use windows applications than do not select Linux

as your operating system.

As for alias' knowledge, - well, he thinks that the Windows Directory

is windows central operating application (the kernel). Even a newbee

can figure out that a Directory is not a kernel....

All those programs have comparable programs in Linux.

Open Office will do that.

Because you can't think of any more.

Bullshit.

Not what I said but your usual M.O. is to shoot the messenger and lie

about the message and you did it again now.
