Is SyncToy 1.4 100% OK in Vista?

I ask because in Vista this aspect of SyncToy is driving me crazy: Even
though I've excluded the Recycle Bin in SyncToy's "Select Subfolders"
section (the entire Recycle Bin branch is deselected), if I do a "Preview"
on this task, SyncToy shows me that everything in Recycle Bin will be backed
up. In other words, it flatly ignores the exclusion. I later tried
deselecting some "normal" directories, and it had no problem with that, so
is it possible that SyncToy has a problem with special folders (in Vista, at
least)?

The only problems I have had with SyncToy have been with excessively long
paths, but I haven't tried what you're doing...

Still, its better than Briefcase by a LONG way [They reinvented the wheel
and came up with the log], and since MS didn't see fit to include Offline
Files for Basic/Home/HP users it's the only way unless you use a 3rd party
utility.

Personally, SyncToy probably *saved* my sanity (though that may be a matter
of debate) <g>

Have you tried creating a new sync pair from (and maybe getting rid of
existing SyncToy records) so it starts from scratch? Come to that, how did
you specify the folder pair in such a way that it included recycle in the
first place? (just rhetorical questions)

That's a good question, since I'm sure it's not common, but I stumbled upon
this issue because I happen to have a small, dedicated data drive and I
wanted to operate upon the entire drive. So when setting up the sync pair
(which I have tried doing from scratch) I chose the root instead of only a
specific directory (of which there are many), which unfortunately includes
the Recycle Bin. That's how I came to try to exclude the Recycle Bin and
found that it looks like it can be done but doesn't actually work. I haven't
been able to try it in XP.

I've been using the new SyncToy with Vista Business. Pairs are between the
C: and an external drive. So far I've had no problems. All all operations
have worked flawlessly. Great little program. Hope you guys haven't found
a flaw.

The root of C? If so, are you saying that you were able to deselect the
Recycle Bin and have it honor that? If so, does "Preview" suggest
otherwise?
