  6. I recently reinstalled Windows 11 while keeping my files on Drive D intact. However, after the reinstallation, I found that I could no longer access my files. Before reinstalling Windows, I had encrypted these files using Windows' built-in encryption. I suspect that the encryption keys or certificates were lost during the reinstallation process.I have already tried the following solutions, but none have worked:Logging in with my original Microsoft account.Changing file ownership and permissions.Using the cipher /d command in Command Prompt.I would appreciate any guidance on recovering my encryView the full article

  10. I am unable to add any further comment to this original question so raising again as a repeat: The issue seems to be lack of common sense in the way Microsoft/Windows copies files to external drives. In many and perhaps most cases the reason to add an external drive is to move files from the PC drive due to lack of space. It seems obvious then that the temporary area required to copy/move the files should be created on the external drive which inevitably would be much larger and therefore have plenty of free space. Perhaps it should give users the choice to switch to the external drive as theView the full article

  12. When I try to install an update, I get a black screen at the end. The only way to get out of that screen and reboot is to go into troubleshooting and uninstall the latest quality update. On my Windows Update page in settings, it says the update was successfully installed, but here it is, 2025, and my version number is 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4317).I've tried everything suggested on this and other forums, and as far as I can see, my only alternative is to reset the computer, which I don't want to do, because what if I get that black screen again?I am so frustrated by this. 13. Hello, I have recently purchased a new build PC from a third party manufacturer and have unfortunately experienced BSOD faults within minutes of the machine being used. The BSOD reasons are varied and relate to IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Page Fault errors. I have run a memtest86 on the machine which passed with 0 errors. My current thinking is that the fault relates to either a faulty windows install or driver, though of course cannot discount another memory fault. One of the dumps appears to refer to the RGB light controllers on the machine, so I have disabled those. The machine appears tView the full article

  18. I built my PC Last year (I think) and have had nothing but problems started off with random crashes during game play and when sat idle and various other things. As it was new I sent off the motherboard and the processor,(as directed) turned out processor was faulty MB was fine. It now wants me to buy a license for Windows 11 Pro to activate my windows. Can someone let me know how I can roll back to Windows 11 home without having to format my hard drive? Also can someone at Microsoft please fix this evident bug in their update - because it ultimately amounts to sharp practice at the very least to force an update on someone that then requires themView the full article

I see all kinds of references to arrows and whatnot to assist me, but I don't have anything like that. If I hover over the time/date, I get a popup window showing me the same time/date info! What's the point of that? When I "left" click on the time/date I get absolutely NOTHING! there are no options whatsoever. If I "right" click on the time/date I get 2 options "Adjust date and time" and "Notification settings". I've gone through all oView the full article
  23. When I try to open settings, this error comes up. Happens in a lot of other apps too but I didn't note down the code. Also, this only started when I factory-reset my PC. Search is bugged so when I search an application, and click open it won't open the app. I need to pin it to start and click on the app from there to open. I've been having this problem with my bios where if I try to go to advanced-start up or bios my monitor has no signal and I saw that it might have been a corrupted file so I factory reset and this problem occurred as soon as I boot up my PC for the first time. Does anyone haView the full article

  25. After successfully installing several updates, I manually installed one update but later forgot its build version. All updates had been applied successfully, but a few days later, I received another update. Please keep your computer on."I searched extensively through various threads and tried every troubleshooting method available, but nothing worked. Frustrated, I decided to leave it as it was.
