  4. Before update all fine, after update not so much.I will insert before and after pictures:After update it did something with the video drivers or settings:And this was with the Highest Quality (32 bit) setting in the Display configuration in RDC. If I set it to 16 bit then some background colors are completely transparant. You can test it easy by moving a window in a RDC. It will leave a trace of borders:Tested it on 3 different devices so it has to be something in the update 24H2View the full article
  5. Hello, I had bought some new parts to upgrade my PC but am now experiencing crashes, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what could be causing the issue. I have a X570 AORUS ELITE motherboard (BIOS version F39) and had bought new 4060 Ti, AMD 5900XT, and 64GB Crucial Pro RAM (CP2K32G4DFRA32A). The graphics card and RAM seemed to be fine but I quickly saw the 5900XT was causing WHEA blue screen crashes so I replaced it back with original AMD 3700X. It has been mostly fine but recently over the last 2 days have gotten crashes after playing games for about 10 minutes. No bluescreen this tiView the full article

  9. Any tips on cleaning my 1 TB hard drive prior to a reinstall of Windows 11 Pro from a USB flash drive. This is necessary since I cannot recover admin rights. Even after 3 sessions yesterday via Microsoft Chat. Even a Level 2 tech I chatted with for over an hour. You'd be surprised how limited your options are without admin rights, Or maybe you wouldn't (smile). My main concern of course is missing drivers AND of course will I then be able to finally (after a week of intense troubleshooting by me -- a retired software engineer) be able to create a user account with admin rights. Thanks in advanceView the full article

  12. as the title states, after the most recent update (that being Windows 11, version 24H2) my windows 11 now cannot activate apparently, pressing troubleshoot does nothing to resolve the issue, and i have tried reinputting my product key several times. I have also tried scanning my PC for broken files using powershell, and it came up with nothing. Is there a way to go back an update so my windows 11 works again? Do i need to wait for some kind of hotfix? please help.View the full article

  18. I have tried setting the administrator account to active, I tried setting the registry key passwordless to 0 which enabled the option to try entering a password at the log in screen, but no password that I would have ever used worked... this once available option to enter a password has since disappeared... I also restored Windows from 2 previously saved backups, one was 1 day old the second attempt was 4 days old, but neither made a difference, all attempts have been fruitless. This has been the most anomalous experience I have ever had with Windows and the most perplexing, your help is most View the full article
  19. before i begin, let me apologize if i placed this in the wrong forum. there didn't seem to be a forum for 'repairs' that i could see, so i chose the closest, 'Recovery and Backup'. If there is a better forum, would a Mod please move it there for me?I just finished a system repair on my system after SFC told me that repairs were unable to be completed. I ended up having to download the .ISO for Windows 11 Professional 24H2 to act as a source for DISM to repair the issue. I know how to 'analyze' my cbs.log made by SFC, but I was wondering how to do the same with my DISM.log file. The repairs areView the full article

  21. I followed the advice to change the registry. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies" and ensured the "WriteProtect" value is set to "1"I then insert my CompactFlash drive after double checking the value was set. Unfortunately, I can still copy and delete items from the device. I know this used to work to properly prevent any write activity. I tested on 3 separate computers and all are failing. 22. Recently my Windows 11 Dell has been acting up. Upon restart it acts normally, only requiring the pin to sign in. However, once the screen locks and I log back in, it asks for my email with password (or pin) for sign-in. This is not the end of the world, but it is slightly annoying. However, this is not the main issue; after it opens after requiring my email, it won't open certain apps from the start menu. The ones I have noticed are the snipping tool, outlook, and Teams never seem to open. Others, like File Explorer and Microsoft Store open inconsistently. I have tried to work around this andView the full article
  23. After updating windows, when I turn on my laptop it boots up normally, and everything is fine. However, when I log into my user, a couple seconds after it loads into the desktop it will bluescreen every single time. I went into the boot options after restarting and reverted the windows update, but now it only lasts 5-6 seconds longer than it did before, and then bluescreens. It works fine in safe mode, but I can't update my drivers or fix anything.View the full article
