I recently bought a laptop with Windows 8. However over the last few days I have noticed the space on my hard drive gradually reducing when I am not adding anything to the hard drive. I noticed today the hard drive space reduced by 1gb when I emptied the recycle bin (only deleted around 10mb of data). Is there any reason why this might be happening? View the full article

I have ripped music tracks on USB memory sticks but suddenly the tracks will not playback through WMP on my PC. Is the problem with WMP or my USB? How can I fix the problem,? Tracks still on WMP playback ok. View this thread

I noticed that Windows Update does not recognize windows updates. It only detects the optional update which is the Bing Bar. I checked the latest updates for Windows 8 in the Download Center then compared it to the ones I have installed in the Installed Updates. I noticed that there are some updates which are not installed. I did the troubleshoot things and said it fixed some errors then tried to find updates again. But still it didn't detect the missing updates. I think it is a hassle installing all of the missing updates manually and I have a hunch there is something wrong with the Windows Update. I tried the sfc /scannow and it did nothing. Also I ran the troubleshooter two times and it said the same thing always Potential Windows Update Database error detected 0x80070490 Fixed Windows Update components must be repaired Fixed But the error still persist. I cant install any updates, keep getting error message "WindowsUpdate_80080005 how can I resolve this problem,?" Also cant Upgrade from inernet explorer 7 to internet explorer 9 tried just about every thing to upgrade just not reponding. It downloads but will not install. View this thread

Sometimes my applications (Adobe reader, Windows Live Mail,...) refuse to open files encrypted with EFS (error messages like &quot...cannot open...seems to be corrupted...&quot). I now found out that it helps to perform a simple reboot to regain the required access. But when I decrypt such a file before, it's no more usable even after a reboot. Since I've repeatedly encountered this on different machines, I start to think that there may be a bug in EFS which might even lead to data destruction - something that I want to avoid of course. The question for me now is whether I missed something that I should have taken care of, or if I should stop using EFS completely (guess it's hard to find an alternative that works similarly without needing to preallocate drive space like Truecrypt requires it). What is KB2778171 function? When I installed this KB, Play video with WMP, after maximize and minimize or switch display mode or plug/unplug external monitor cable. the video all will play unsmooth, I have to uninstall KB2778171. all this problems are not duplicated. I have a SONY VAIO VPCF234FD Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT My windows update would not start prior to the wuauserv not starting. In the past, I have rejected several times of updating and have not correctly **** down a few times. (by just pulling the power plug) This computer came with Windows 7 I have installed Norton 360 I have tried Microsoft fix it 50202, but when it was almost done, a message came up saying that I have no privilege to start the wuauserv. My BITS is working perfectly and is on Automatic (delayed), and my Windows Update service is on Automatic. Whenever I try to start the service, an error comes up saying &quotWindows Could not start Windows Update on local computer.&quot I ran the Update troubleshoot and two problems came up saying that my Windows Update Components are broken - Not fixed, and the other was the wuauserv not being able to start. I tried resetting it but it still couldn't start the wuauserv with a system error 15100. I really need help on this!!! View this thread

I updated Win 7 to Win 8. Computer worked horribly at first but then seemed to resolve itself. Now my Windows Live Mail won't send. I repaired it and still not sending. Also, no Win 8 updates will install at all. View this thread

Okay having the same problem. I don't know about computers but it seems there is some sort of problem with the system. I've tried everything. I bought my laptop with windows 8. I think Windows should supply a fix. Why isn't it taking responsibility for a fix? Why is it up to the customers to sort it on their own? Next time I'm getting a Mac. Half of the other problems I'm dealing with are because Microsoft doesn't seem to have the ability to make software that is compatible with it's own system. View the full article

When I try to update Windows, I get code error 80246008When I looked for the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) file, it is no where in the services folder.
